These days, survey data costs less. And also, more.

Maybe we shouldn’t be so surprised that, as the cost of survey data has gone down, so has the credibility of the results.

After all, the saying “you get what you pay for” is pretty widely–known.

Because now, bad data, be that fake, bot, or just plain made up, is becoming ever–more prevalent in panel company data, requiring companies to spend an ever–increasing amount of post–survey time cleaning and re–fielding results.

At Omnisis, we look at the problem differently. (We’re Northern so we’re weird like that.)

To us, the best response we can take as an industry isn’t better post– survey scrubbing. It’s better pre–survey prepping.

Introducing the Omnisis Sheep Dip.

Considering our aversion to tooting our own horn, it’s perhaps not surprising that we haven’t broadcast the steps we take in assuring data quality for our clients.

But now that we are, we figured our process at least deserves its own memorable name. We call it the Omnisis Sheep Dip because, like sheep who get dipped to remove ticks and other parasites, our process pre–cleans your data to remove it of improper respondents before they even start.

After all, our loyalty firmly lies with our clients and the validity of the data we provide, not panel companies and their desire to minimise flagged or screened out data.

The Omnisis Sheep Dip employs a unique blend of technical checks, red herring checks, and verbatim checks.

So how effective is the approach? Try a post–survey kick out rate of under 5% on average, vs. the industry average of 20–25%.

Over the last few years, we have been patiently analysing respondent data to identify the hallmarks of low-quality respondents. Using a combination of geolocation, browser fingerprinting, text analysis and statistical engineering, we can now confidently detect and eliminate fraudulent and automated respondents in a few seconds.

We can’t help but think the sheep of the world would feel honoured to serve as the inspiration for the moniker of such an effective tool.
